Good idea and effective composition. I do think the image is a notch or two over-exposed which has resulted in a lack of detail in the "skull" and a background that comes across as rather flat. If your camera has an Exposure Bracketing feature, you may want to experiment with it.

Nice work....Very interesting subject....I would have concentrated more on the driftwood....looks like you could get some unsual shapes from it.
